Corporate Spelling Bee

This year's Spelling Bee was May 4th at the Eaton Vance Conference Center. Host Robin Young of WBUR's hit show Here and Now, entertained and educated the teams from 25 local companies and nonprofits. Overall, the evening was a fantastic success and we're already looking forward to another great event in 2007.

The Boston Adult Literacy Fund's Corporate Spelling Bee, created in 1990, helps raise funds and business awareness about the importance of literacy. The annual Corporate Spelling Bee is an established and anticipated Boston event. Corporations participate by sending a team of three of their best spellers to compete against other teams representing a variety of industries. The competition is fierce but friendly as teams try to out spell each other and move into the Championship Round. The winning company has its name inscribed on the Boston Corporate Champion Spellers Cup and gets to display the cup for a year. The entry fee is $2,500 for the Participant Level or $3,500 for the Patron Participant Level, which includes additional tickets for team boosters and more publicity. Some companies choose to use their entry fee to sponsor a nonprofit team. If your company would like to participate in the Spelling Bee or become Corporate Sponsor, click here.
